Great Taste 2024 award for Urban Rhinos premium London Dry Gin

Urban Rhino takes home Great Taste 2024 award for its premium London Dry Gin

Urban Rhino Premium London Dry Gin is at it again with winning yet another major award.

It has been named among the top food and drink producers globally this year, picking up a highly prized Great Taste “simply delicious”
award for the gin.

Almost 13,700 products were put through the competition’s rigorous blind judging process; and Urban Rhino was dubbed a “classic London Dry that should be applauded for its restrained approach to the construction: juniper forward, crisp, with lots of floral citrus. Great balance and a pleasant, warm, finish. This would make an outstanding martini.”

These are the world’s most coveted food and drink awards and less than 40% of products entered won an award.

The judges were full of praise for Urban Rhino describing it as follows: “An inviting and promising nose with delicate notes of citrus and a juniper backbone. To taste, this is a solid, classic gin with juniper predominance. Clean to taste, the front of the palate is pleasingly soft. It was felt this would mix well and make a good base for a number of serves.”

CEO (Chief Enjoyment Officer) Pete Richardson said: “We absolutely believe this is a great tasting gin because so many people tell us so at events. We describe it very scientifically as a very ‘ginny gin’. It’s a classic London Dry and we are absolutely delighted to be able to say we have a Great Taste award to add to all our other major awards.”

What is Great Taste?

Recognised as a stamp of excellence and actively sought out by food lovers and retailers alike, Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, values taste above all else. All products in the line-up for judging are blind-tasted: every product is removed from its packaging so it cannot be identified, before entering a robust, layered judging process.

This year, judging took place over 92 days in Dorset and London, with a panel of more than 500 judges putting the products to the test. The line-up saw food and drink products submitted from an extraordinary 115 different countries across the world.
